The INES (Interoperable Energy System Data Specification) tools facilitate seamless data exchange across multiple data formats and diverse modelling structures, enabling iterative workflows between different modelling tools. They are built upon the interoperable INES specification (INES-spec), which provides the common framework through which all data transfers are managed.
In the first part of the webinar, we’ll introduce the INES specification and walk you through installing the accompanying INES tools used to convert models between INES and various modelling environments.
By adopting the INES spec, you can use model data built for other tools and data pipelines built for INES or tools connected to it. You’ll also learn how INES enables automated model coupling and supports tool validation through its certification process. This is a series of targeted test setups designed to verify the tool results and that your conversion script correctly translates between INES and your chosen tool. Workflow examples for all of these will be shown.
In the second part, there will be a description of the latest additions to our energy system planning optimisation tool, SpineOpt, such as multi-year investments, seasonal storage with representative periods, and multi-stage optimisations.
