SpineTools provide the modelling and optimisation framework at the core of the Spine H2-IRL project, enabling the comprehensive assessment of future energy systems with high levels of sector integration and operational detail. The project develops and publishes open models to assess energy system pathways that involve widespread hydrogen production and consumption, alongside other net-zero solutions. The models are also used to generate insights into the future development of the Irish energy system and to demonstrate the value of open, transparent energy system analysis.
During the webinar, the Spine H2-IRL case study will be presented, showcasing how SpineTools is applied to the model of the Irish energy system in terms of model reserves, inertia, DC interconnectors, etc., within a long-term planning model, and investigating different investment options across scenarios of hydrogen adoption across sectors.
